The name Lukwa comes from the Kwakwala language and means 'a place in the forest.' Lukwa is owned and operated by Jim and Mary Borrowman of Stubbs Island Whale Watching.

A look into the life and sights of Sointula, BC. On an island off the top of Vancouver Island lies a most intriguing composite of community and independence- of idealism and practicality- and of old school and progressive attitudes. Distinct and in a wildly beautiful location, Sointula is the main small community on Malcolm Island. We visited in the 70's, returned many times and eventually settled here to discover all that the island has to offer us.
