Nov. 23-06 Barge

Nov. 23-06 Barge

For several months near our Sidney warehouse, a very large metal structure was being erected. We had no idea what it was but assumed it was for BC Ferries. We assumed incorrectly. On November 23rd we looked out our window in Sointula and saw the same object sitting on a barge in the water under tow with a large crane ship following behind. Turns out that it was going to the Orca Sand and Gravel plant located nearby just above Port McNeill on Vancouver Island. It was reported to be the largest mechanical device ever fabricated on Vancouver Island. It is one of those funny coincidences that this bulk gravel conveyor loader has now ended up here. We will not be able to see it daily but we know the monsterous contraption is nearby.
